Northern Sound covers stages where the room changes every night. Our MacBook Pro rigs need to boot quickly, recover from sleep, and stay stable when dozens of wireless channels are active.

Tracking happens in Logic Pro for most sessions. Ableton Live stays on a second machine when we loop stems for DJ transitions or need clip-based playback.

We document every input list in a shared spreadsheet, then mirror patch notes inside the DAW template so operators see the same channel order.

Virtual instruments and effects are updated cautiously. MacTorent lists build numbers next to macOS requirements, which saves us from installing a plugin that still expects an older OS.

For FOH we keep third-party EQ and dynamics light; the console does the heavy lifting. Recording taps, however, benefit from transparent limiters and de-essers printed to safety tracks.

After the show we archive multitracks with a readme file: date, venue, sample rate, and which Mac captured which segment. That habit has saved remix requests years later.
